Captain Sean Mathis

Sean’s Bio

I am Captain Sean Mathis. My Dad and I started fishing together back in Louisiana when I was really young. I remember fishing the marshes for Redfish and Speckled trout. I looked forward to every weekend that we were able to fish at the Camp. Oyster and Shrimp boats used to stop by the Camp for a cold beer. In exchange they would often leave us a hefty supply of shrimp and oysters for our nightly fish-fry. I guess this is where I really began to get into fishing.

When my Dad was stationed in Japan we fished the East China Sea for Mahi-Mahi and Tuna. It was there I grew a passion for the Big Game Fishing. It seemed like every weekend we would be on the water with “Kawabata” our Japanese Captain. Kawabata showed me several little tricks to up my game as an Angler. One of my favorites was the Green Stick. Kawabata would tease giant tuna into leaping out the water to attack bouncing squid lures. My time in Japan was educational and well spent. I plan on going back to Japan later this year to fish with old friends.

When my Dad went to Hawaii, he started Island Charters Sportfishing. I started crewing for him and other Sport Fishing Companies when they were short-handed. It was long before I had several Marlin under my belt. My personal best was a 583 pound Blue. Hawaii was home to many professional Captains who each taught me their own spin on Sport Fishing.

When my Dad moved back to the Gulf Coast I helped him start Biloxi Sport Fishing. I picked up my Captain’s License here and began running his Charters. Biloxi is one of the most enjoyable places I have fished. The calm water and abundance of fish is an absolute blessing to any angler fortunate enough to fish here.

I look forward to taking you out for a day of fishing. I am positive you will have a great time and come back wanting more.

Until then, Tight Lines!
